SLAM POEM ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE

Writer's picture: Robotics Girl Robotics Girl

Hey, people of the world, I hope you are doing good. I said that there would be a surprise, this is one of them. There are two surprises. This post is a slam poem. According to Brittanica, a slam poem is "a form of performance poetry that combines the elements of performance, writing, competition, and audience participation." This is my slam poem about climate change:

SLAM POEM ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE

Fires, blizzards, rising sea levels, tornadoes, and hurricanes make me feel sorrow and worry.

I cry when I see these things happen.

Yet, society cannot accept the fact that climate change is happening now.

It is an inevitable issue that we have to face.

As I look around, I see so much.

Things, people, animals, and plants are being destroyed because of our greedy actions.

Why?

Cause of money.

We want money and nothing else.

We don’t care about anything else.

We don’t care if anything gets hurt.

We are fine if something fades away.

Even though 85% of the population is affected by climate change, we don’t care.

We have created this monster named climate change and continue to feed it every day.

Climate change is an evil ghost lurking in the shadows who is coming up with a plan for the end of humanity.

Yet, we are simply just living with it.

Climate change has been showing us its power slowly.

And, yet, we are ignoring it.

There are some people who do agree that climate change is real but don’t want to take action.

They are willing to keep their children and their grandchildren in danger.

Soon, we will die because of our own actions and greed.

We cut down trees as if they were non-living beings because we don’t care.

We are selfish people.

We make money off of these living beings without any concern for them.

We cover up our actions by putting it into seas and oceans and never think about them and the consequences again.

Land will become as scarce as pure gold.

Sea levels will rise, causing chaos.

As a bucket of water overflows and floods the bathtub, the seas and oceans will overflow and flood the land.

Soon, we will become like animals who will kill for survival.

Yet, society cannot accept the fact that climate change is happening now.

People are still living their lives without any concern for the future.

Every time we drive in a vehicle that emits carbon dioxide emissions, we are happy, but soon, we won’t be happy.

Soon, we will all be struggling to survive, breathe fresh air, and live.

That future is nearing us.

Why should we have to struggle?

Climate change is like a ticking time bomb.

When the bomb explodes, it will cause extreme destruction to humanity and to the Earth.

People, animals, and plants will all quickly fade away as if they never existed.

When the Earth shatters into pieces, we will not be able to reverse anything.

Do we want to live in a world with a ticking time bomb?

Soon, the Earth will become a barren wasteland filled with the plastics that we left behind in our high seas and oceans and no living life.

One day, the Earth will be ravaged by natural disasters caused by climate change.

Soon, clouds will become as dark as ash.

We will be clouded by our actions.

There is no Planet B.

Yet, society cannot accept the fact that climate change is happening now.

There is no way we can reverse it once climate change releases its ultimatum.

Climate change is a house on fire.

A fire that will destroy everything.

Climate change is a weight we must carry forever on our shoulders because it directly depends on carbon dioxide emissions, which we emit every day.

I don’t want my children and grandchildren to suffer the destructive consequences of climate change for something they didn’t do.

They will probably have to stay at home most of the time while ravaging natural disasters occur, but when they do go outside, they have to wear masks.

The air will become as filthy as month-old trash.

Because of the nasty pollution we have created.

I don’t want my children and grandchildren breathing this air.

Why do they have to take these precautions?

We never had to wear masks when we went outside because of pollution.

We are feeding climate change’s wishes and simply not standing up against it.

We can’t be silent servants.

We have to be heroes for ourselves and our future generations.

We have to take extreme measures, such as completely eliminating carbon dioxide emissions, if we, humanity, want to live.

Thanks for reading my slam poem. Remember that there is one more surprise, so please continue reading Climate Change with Tech's posts. After the next post, the next couple of posts will be on renewable energy, but it is going to be further in-depth. Each post will be about one type of renewable energy. In the meantime, here are some ways to combat climate change:

  • You can recycle plastic water bottles and bags that have the recycle sign on them.

  • You can also help with clean clean-ups. There are plenty of clean-ups for beaches, roads, and many more.

  • You can also educate people.

  • You can use less plastic.

  • You can walk or bike. When you walk or bike, you don't release carbon emissions. In worst cases, use public transportation because many people use it, and it doesn't release more carbon dioxide.

  • You can plant plants.

  • You can conserve water to have water left, like taking 5-minute showers. You can buy reusable stuff, so you don't need to use too much plastic. You can participate in peaceful protests.

  • You can also talk to people who have more knowledge about climate change so that you can tell other people.

  • You can put a bucket in the shower when you shower, so you can use that water for your plants or clean something up.

  • You can buy local produce.

  • You can build a garden and grow fresh produce.

  • You can buy organic produce.

Try to make a difference.
