Hey guys, it's Robotics Girl. I hope you guys are staying safe and staying healthy, especially with the delta variant out there. Lately, there have been many articles about climate change, and the primary solution is really just cutting and stopping fossil fuels. I know that's a costly option for people. I keep thinking about why people can't create electric cars with cheap materials with the same components and qualities. I feel like most companies who make hybrid cars or electric cars should find a way to make electric and hybrid vehicles more affordable so they will become popular. I know that some people won't change, and it makes me sad, but we have to do our best to change. I read this article that said that society would crumble in 2040 because of climate change. Every time I think of that, it hurts me so badly because I won't have even lived half of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, sorry about that. I read another article about the main takeaways from a UN report.
The main thing that concerned me the most is that what happened so far, like the Dixie Fire, isn't the worst part. Apparently, the planet has warmed 1.2 degrees Celsius because of fossil fuels, and global warming is warming the earth even faster than we thought. It also said that we could not let the planet warm to 2 degrees higher, and to do that, we have to cut all carbon emissions. This is not good, people. You have to understand that there is a possibility that humanity and all life can end because of climate change, our actions. With climate change and increasing temperatures, we could see more possible dangerous heat waves, droughts, flooding, hurricanes, sea levels potentially rising by a lot, causing many people to flee for higher ground, making survival harder, and weather patterns being unpredictable because of climate change. The worst part of it is that some of the things happening can't be irreversible, like rising sea levels, but we can use fewer fossil fuels to make them less harmful. Here's one detail I bet you didn't know, farming can worsen climate change. Why do you ask? When we till and put pesticides on plants that can release carbon dioxide, which increases the amount of carbon of dioxide in the atmosphere. We'll go deeper in-depth about how farming affects climate change in the next post. I hope that people do understand the effects of climate change because there is no planet B. I want people to realize that we have only one planet, and it's our responsibility to save it even though we can't go into the past and change it. I really don't want people to think in the future, "What if?" Before I stop writing for this post. Here are some ways you can help save the environment. You can plant plants, walk or bike instead of using cars, participate in protests, and spread the message that "Climate change is not a hoax and we have to do something about it."
